I’ve had both eyes operated on by Mr Ursell to remove cataracts. Four weeks after the second operation I had an eye test at an opticians so I can get some reading glasses.
Her words at the end of the test were “we don’t get many people in here with 20/20 vision”
Apart from cataracts I’ve always been reliant on glasses with high prescription lenses so having perfect distance vision is amazing. Using reading glasses is a minor inconvenience in comparison.
Both Mr Ursell and Karen his PA were great to deal with as were the nursing staff who could not have been kinder or more reassuring.
I had the operations done privately, best money I have ever spent.

I found Mr. Ursell welcoming and reassuring from outset. Happy to answer my questions and giving me full information about the procedure. I also found the booklets which he gave me very informative and again reassuring. I found his approach to me as a patient unpatronising with just the right touch of humour, this I found set me at ease and able to ask about any issues that concerned me.
When it came to the operations, I was completely relaxed about having both eyes operated on, and had no anxiety issues.
Both procedures for me were straightforward, every effort was made to keep me comfortable. I appreciated Mr. Ursell checking that I was happy both before and after the operations, I had complete confidence in his knowledge and skills. He was brilliant, I would be very happy to recommend him to anybody, indeed I already have.

Dr Ursell was friendly, caring & very professional.The excellent folder of information I received regarding the procedure answered all my questions/concerns. A first class publication. From the first consultation to the actual procedure I was kept totally informed.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Ursell.

Paul Ursell is President of the UK Cataract Society UKISCRS and is one of the UK’s leading cataract surgeons.
Paul specialises in spectacle independance following cataract surgery with advanced premium implants to treat astigmatism, distance glasses and reading glasses as well as improving vision.
He has devoted his professional career to improving cataract surgery to make it safer and easier for patients. He has personally performed over 10,000 cataract operations in a career spanning 25 years.
Paul has developed a patient friendly ‘no needle, no patch’ technique for cataract surgery that is now widely taught across the NHS.
